Since then, he's edited key journals, taught countless students, and turned out reliably well-written and well-thought books. Making Sense of the Organization is the latest addition to my bookshelf.In this book, Weick emphasizes that people are always making sense of their "organization" while their thoughts and actions are creating (enacting) the organization. The individual chapters provide complementary essays on how this happens and what the consequences are for people who would lead and manage today.Highly recommend for all students and faculty in management sciences, organizational behavior, and organizational psychology areas...but it is good for managers, too!

I like Weick's idea about "seeing is forgetting the name of the thing seen." To put this notion into practice, an organization leader/member should live in reality, and play an active role in reconstructing reality.His language is obscure and redundant sometimes.
Weick's insights into how people make sense of what is happening in situations is unique and profound. It is also difficult and Weick's work is not always easy to make sense of itself.Anyone with a deep interest in how cognition relates to organizational activity will love Weick's work.
